Kakunodate Samurai Residence

Kakunodate Samurai Residence
Kakunodate was a town developed beneath a castle where old houses and former historic samurai residences still remain on the streets. Houses/residences have little changed in more than 380 years, as if frozen in time. They show their beauty differently season from season. Most of the samurai residences that remain have been designated as Cultural Properties by public agencies. They are often used in film shooting.
