At the Ammonite Center, the first museum in Japan to be built on a fossil excavation site, several ammonite fossils are displayed in their original excavated state. The highlight here is fossil digging! At the reception desk, pick up a helmet, gloves, hammer, and chisel to excavate fossils at the outdoor fossil pit. Swing your hammer and forget the time as you hunt for shell and shark teeth fossils as well as ammonite fossils. This activity lets you feel like a treasure hunter and is popular for people of all ages from children to adults.
