Taro is the key ingredient to Yamagata Prefecture’s famous delicacy, imoni (a local dish consisting of taro, white konnyaku yam cake, leek, and thinly-sliced beef stewed in a broth flavored with sugar, salt, and sake). Dig soil with your own hands and harvest taro. You will go to Agreement Naka, located in Iide Town, Yamagata Prefecture, which is one of the member areas of the Association of the Most Beautiful Villages in Japan. Agreement Naka is a farmhouse operating under the motto of “safe and delicious.” Here, you can participate in a half-hour taro harvesting experience and take home 1 kg of taro that you harvested yourself. After the harvest, enjoy a taste of the Yamagata specialty, imoni, made from freshly-harvested taro.
