Namahage Crafts(Sato Kurashi Taiken Juku)
""Namahage"" is registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage site. Namahage are visiting gods that bestow happiness throughtout the year after appearing as oni (devils) and violently rampaging through the houses. It is thought that the gods dwell in the straw which falls from the “kede” garment, made of the straw worn by Namahage, and the fallen straws serve as an charm against sickness and disease. Come enjoy the Namahage performance, and afterwards you will make crafts using the gods’ fallen straw to take home as a souvenir.
