The Sakai family, the head of the Tokugawa clan, has been staying in the Shonai area and existing over a long period with the local residents for 398 years. The Sakai family’s tea ceremony is restricted to only certain acquaintances.  The 19th generation, Mr. “Tadayori Sakai”, opened the hisotrical door that had been closed to contribute to the regional development.The inbound business being improved enables to provide hospitality to foreign visitors. The dance of shrine maiden for travel safety and a safety prayer are held at the Shonai Shrine worshiping the Sakai ancestors, .
