A one day tour to visit resilient dwellers in recovering Kamaishi, a place known as a city of rugby. (Kamaishi Course)

The Unosumai district in Kamaishi City is famous for its stadium where the Rugby World Cup took place in 2019. This town was also extremely damaged by The Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. This area is keen on disaster prevention education and pursues to create communities that protect lives. The story-teller, who was a junior high school student at the time of disaster, takes you to and around memorial facilities and the rugby stadium that was built on a site where the story-teller’s old school used to be, and talks about the truth and the threat of the great tsunami disaster that occurred there as well as the importance of preparations for natural disasters. You will also find out how resilient the locals are by communicating with them.
