Mt. Adatara is one of the top hundred mountains of Japan and one of the top hundred flower mountains. You can go up to near the summit by ropeway. Therefore, we also recommend it for beginners to mountain climbing. Adatarayama Ropeway operates with Okudake Trailhead serving as the base station and Yakushidake serving as the summit station. The ropeway will take you up an elevation of approximately 400 meters in less than 10 minutes.
You will see the most flowers from around mid- to late June. The best time to see the fall leaves is from mid-September to early November. You can enjoy snowy mountain climbing in winter. There is a stone monument engraved with the following phrase on Yakushidake: ""The sky above here is the true sky."" This is a phrase associated with a poetry anthology Chieko-sho (Portrait of Chieko) by Kotaro Takamura. There is a desolate exploded crater site at Numa no Taira and a hot spring that will heal the tiredness you feel from climbing the mountain at Kurogane Goya Mountain Lodge.
