The museum was built together with Roadside Station Takada Matsubara in Takada Matsubara Tsunami Reconstruction Memorial Park to convey the facts of the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred in Iwate Prefecture through images and photographs of what was actually damaged and what was captured at the time, and at the same time to powerfully convey the lessons of the Great East Japan Earthquake so that the sorrows of that time will never be repeated.
