Senshu Park, the site of the castle of the Satake clan of the Akita domain (200,000 koku), is one of the 100 best cherry blossom viewing spots in Japan.About 700 cherry trees, including someiyoshino cherry trees that are 120 years old, are in full bloom, and the park is illuminated at night. During the festival, the park is crowded with cherry blossom-viewing visitors with a variety of stalls in addition to the permanent stands.
