Illuminated Akutsu Hachiman Shrine DC Special (Takahata Town, Yamagata Prefecture)

Enjoy the illuminated Akutsu Hachiman Shrine and cherry blossoms at night

Illuminated Akutsu Hachiman Shrine DC Special (Takahata Town, Yamagata Prefecture)
The three-story pagoda of Akutsu Hachiman Shrine is illuminated every year. In 2021, as part of the Tohoku DC, the cherry blossoms in the Takahata Historical Park will be illuminated for the first time along with the three-story pagoda.
Amida Hall, first built in 860, is said to be the origin of Akutsu Hachiman Shrine. The three-story pagoda, Bugakuden (a traditional Japanese-style dance hall), and the main hall, all located at the end of a mossy stone-paved approach surrounded by lush trees, have been certified as cultural properties by Yamagata prefecture. Once you leave the shrine grounds, you can see the beautiful view of cherry blossoms, rape blossoms, and other flowers. The mountain on the west side of the shrine is home to about 5,000 azaleas, so even after the cherry blossom season, you can still enjoy other beautiful views. In May, enjoy the spectacular sight of colorful carp streamers hung by the three-story pagoda to celebrate Children's Day. The view of the pagoda and the cherry blossoms reflected on the surface of the pond is not to be missed.[About Light Up]Period: April 24 and 25*The period may vary depending on the cherry blossom period.Light-up hours: around 18:00-20:00*Please note that it may vary according to dusk time.Location: Takahata Historical ParkLight-up area: the three-story pagoda of Akutsu Hachiman in Takahata Historical Park and cherry blossom trees
