Sanriku Railway Kotatsu Train
Sanriku Railway will operate a "Kotatsu Train" from mid-December 2023.The "Kotatsu Train" runs between Kuji Station (Kuji City, Iwate Prefecture) and Miyako Station (Miyako City, Iwate Prefecture). The Miyako Station-bound train is connected to a regular train, while the Kuji Station-bound train runs as a stand-alone special train.This is a very enjoyable train where you can warm up with a kotatsu and enjoy the wonderful view of Sanriku in winter from the train window and delicious food inside the train.Inside the Kotatsu Train, visitors can enjoy boxed lunches such as "Tairyo Funauta Gozen" (3,200 yen) and "Abalone Lunchbox" (1,850 yen), as well as sweets (reservations required).In addition, Sanriku Railway attendants will be on board to provide information, and "Namomi" (a demon similar to Akita's Namahage) will appear in the train at some point.There is also a "Western-style Kotatsu Train".
