Located in the Bandai Asahi National Park, the Morohashi Museum of Modern Art exhibits works of Salvador Dali within an imposing building modelled on a European castle.
The museum displays 330 of Dali’s paintings, sculptures and lithographs along with artworks of Matisse, Picasso, Van Gogh, and Renoir. It is Asia’s only museum with a permanent collection of Dali’s works and one of the largest collections of Dali after the Salvador Dali Museum in the U.S. and the Teatro Museo Dali in Spain.
Looking over Mount Bandai, sit back and relax on one of the benches in the museum garden. The garden is a collage of Dali’s artworks and the surrounding natural environment. The best time to visit is summer when you can enjoy the picturesque view of lotus flowers on the garden’s pond.
The café offers a selection of drinks and sweets and the museum shop is the perfect place to look for unique gifts. The museum is an exhilarating experience not only for Dali lovers but for everyone who visits. Free activity and information sheets are available for children.
Why not combine your visit with a trip to the nearby Goshikinuma?
The museum is closed during the winter months, be sure to confirm the opening times before travelling.
