Discover the mysteries of the universe at this experimental museum!

Sendai Astronomical Observatory
The Sendai Astronomical Observatory opened in 1955 in Sendai's Nishi Park. It was then relocated to its current location at Nishikigaoka and reopened on July 1, 2008. Visitors can feel closer to the universe through the planetarium, where you can enjoy the stars in the sky and impressive images, the 1.3 meter-diameter Hitomi Telescope, and the Exhibition Room, one of the largest astronomical museums in Japan. Drinks such as "hoshizora cider" and light meals are also available at the Sora Café opened in May 2021.
