Around 3,700 cherry blossoms and rapeseed blossoms bloom for about 11 kilometers along Prefectural Road 298, running through Ogata Village in Akita Prefecture. If the weather is good, you can enjoy the vivid contrast between pink and yellow made up by the different blossoms.
The best time to see these blossoms is for about one month from late April. In addition to the rapeseed road, Ogata Village has a total area of 11.2 hectares of planted rapeseed, which is crowded with people in early May when the flowers are in full bloom. The Cherry Blossom and Rapeseed Festival is held every year from late April to early May, and includes fun events such as picking rapeseed and mini steam train rides through the rapeseed field.
Also nearby is the Ogata Moor Onsen with hot spring baths that beautify the skin, where you can drop by for a soak. Moor hot springs well up through peat and are characterised by a unique dark water. It is said that the water beautifies the skin or makes one beautiful because the bath easily warms the body and makes your skin feel smooth after bathing.
