The blended malt whiskey "Yamazakura" distilled at the Azumi Distillery, the oldest craft whiskey distillery in Tohoku, won the world's highest award at the World Whiskey Awards (WWA) International Whiskey Competition in 2022.

It is said that sake is nurtured by the climate, and this is the result of the fusion of the limpid water of the Azumi Sosui that flows from Lake Inawashiro, which is mentioned in the Japanese Heritage "One Waterway" that was the foundation of the development of Koriyama, the cold wind from Bandai and the climate with large temperature differences, and the passion of the Sasanokawa Brewery that started brewing sake 300 years ago in the Edo period.

Yamazakura" whiskey is made in the unique climate of the Azumi Plain.
