Yokote City Fureai Center Kamakurakan is a place to experience authentic igloos. Its reasonable price of only 100 yen is also another reason to go.
Opening the door to the freezer warehouse, you are thrust into a world of sub-zero temperatures. Many people come here to beat the summer heat. The Kamakura Room, which is always kept at -10°C, features real igloos made using snow from Yokote. It is popular to put on a dotera, or padded kimono, at the entrance, enter the igloo, and then take a commemorative photo. It is a great experience for children living in areas who do not have many opportunities to see snow.
In addition to the Fantastic Gallery inside the Kamakura Room, there is also a shop that specializes in Yokote products.
Eating the local specialty of Yokote yakisoba nearby is another way to have fun.
