Yagen Onsen Village

Superb views of mountain streams and clear bath waters A healing space of forests and myths

"Yagen Onsen is said to have derived its name from the similarity that the place where the hot spring bubbles forth bears to the yagen-dai, a tool used for grinding traditional herbal medicines. Visitors can also enjoy “forest bathing” (shinrin-yoku) along the mountain streams. Yagen Onsen and Oku-yagen Onsen are located along the Ohata River. Kappa no Yu and Fufu Kappa no Yu are well-known among the hot spring baths found in this area.

Kappa no Yu is free of charge. Although it is equipped with just a basic changing room, it offers a rustic experience in its mysterious emerald-green waters. It is closed for a period of time during winter, and has just one bathtub with fixed admission times for men and women, so do check the information before you visit.

Fufu Kappa no Yu is a municipal open-air bath that was established alongside the Oku-yagen Shukei Park Rest House. There are separate baths for men and women, so women can enter the baths without worrying. An entrance fee is charged as this hot spring bath is open throughout the year.
