Kuroyu Onsen is a hidden hot spring located deep in the mountains surrounding Nyuto Onsenkyo. The Onsen is closed from mid-November to mid-April due to snow. The Onsen is famous for its picturesque scenery of thatched-roof terraced houses and wooden huts surrounded by serene beech tree woodlands. The hot spring overlooks a stream where hot spring water gushes from its underground source. Relax as you bathe beside the source of the spring water surrounded by steaming water vapour and listen to the murmuring of stream below. This is the perfect hideaway for those looking for a true hot spring experience!
The cloudy bluish water is smooth to touch and leaves the skin with a velvety feel. The hot spring offers a choice of three types of guest rooms. After a warm hot spring bath, enjoy savouring the traditional inn’s seasonal dishes made with the rich produce of the mountains. Be sure to try the local specialty, black eggs boiled in the hot spring water!
