Oma Walking Tour—Sharing the fishermen’s good luck(Y Project K.K.)

Enjoy a piece of good luck at the fishing capital of Oma, where a bluefin tuna worth 300 million yen was caught

The fishermen of Oma have made a name for themselves by devoting their lives to catching giant bluefin tuna using the ippon-zuri (handline fishing with a single baited hook) technique. You can witness the tough-minded and devoted lifestyle of the Oma fishermen. Oma tuna is a top delicacy, with a single fish auctioning for as much as 333.6 million yen. You will enjoy a taste of Oma tuna and the lucky fisherman town during this tour.

-You will be shown areas inaccessible without a local guide, such as the restaurant and shrine (where sea goddess Maso, also worshipped in Taiwan, can be found) frequented by Oma fishermen.

-Lunch is a special maguro-don (raw tuna on rice) with three unusual varieties of tuna found only in Oma, prepared by a famous tuna restaurant called Hamazushi.
