Shiogama is a port town centered around one of Japan’s leading fishing harbors. With the most fresh tuna landings in Japan, it is known as a gastronomic destination due to its numerous sushi restaurants.
Shiogama is also significant in the development of Japan’s sake culture. The town is home to three nationally famous sake breweries and the provider of omiki (sacred sake offerings to the gods) to the Shiogama-jinja Shrine.
The half-day tour starts with having kaisen-don (fresh fish over rice) from Shiogama’s morning market and continues around the sites of urban Shiogama. It includes a tour of the Urakasumi sake brewery, a lecture about Japanese sake, and sushi for lunch.
Tours are available in Japanese, English, and Chinese. Please inquire about other languages.
