The Arakawa Gorge Maple Line, a 20-km-long scenic spot for autumn foliage, stretches from Sekikawa Village in the northern part of Niigata Prefecture to Oguni Town in Yamagata Prefecture.
Among them, the Takanosu Suspension Bridge is a must-see spot during a drive. Standing on the suspension bridge, the clear waters of the Arakawa River and the relaxing view of the mountains will wash your mind with their beauty.
Small hot spring bathhouses dot the bridge, creating a picturesque view. The bridge is recommended not only during the season of autumn foliage, but also in spring when the fresh green leaves are dazzling.

Tsukioka Onsen is famed for its rich sulphuric water with one of the highest sulphur contents of any Onsen in Japan. You can freely choose your favorite brand and compare three cups of sake for 600 yen including tax. It is hard to decide which one to choose, but you can refer to the "sweet" or "dry" taste guidelines attached to each sake, or you can choose the label that you like best.
When you try the sake, you will be surprised to find that each sake is a confident product of the respective brewery. They are so delicious that you may end up drinking too much. If you find your favorite sake, you can purchase it on the spot.

This footbath facility allows you to enjoy the famous hot spring water of Tsukioka Onsen, 100% free-flowing. Anyone can use it free of charge, and it is the perfect place to take a break during a stroll. Soaking in the footbath while chatting will relieve tired feet and refresh your spirits. At night, the illumination with colorful wagasa umbrellas is a must-see. You will lose track of time and admire the bright and gorgeous artwork of the Japanese umbrellas.
Towels are available for 100 yen per piece at the nearby ryokan "Hisagoso" and "Yusojyuku Akebono," so you can go without towels.
There are also vending machines for drinks and tourist information.
