Sekino-ichi Museum of Sake Folk Culture

A sake brewery from the Taisho period (1912-1926)

Located in a renovated sake brewery from the Taisho period, this museum displays equipment and tools related to sake brewing in the order of the brewing process so that visitors can learn how sake is made. Also on display are old farming equipment and household utensils. On the premises, there is a “Bungaku No Kura (literature storehouse)” which introduces literary figures associated with Ichinoseki, including Toson Shimazaki, and the Brewery Restaurant Sekino-ichi, where you can enjoy the local cuisine of mochi rice cakes all year round. In addition, Sekino-ichi holds a Brewery Night Tour at 17:30. You can see the inside of the brewery, which is usually not on show. You can learn about the structure of the brewery, its history, its relationship with literary figures, and much more about Sekino-ichi. Of course, you can also participate in a tasting of the brewery’s sake. After the tour, you can enjoy the brewer’s omakase-style cuisine (chef’s choices) at the local cuisine restaurant in a converted warehouse. (Reservations required)
