Wearing snowshoes (Western-style snowshoes - the heel rises up for easy walking), we will explore the beautiful forest in winter. Guided tours are available.


You may discover winter animals and winter mushrooms. You can feel the heartbeats of living creatures as you explore the quiet forest in winter. Satoyama experts living in Matsunoyama will guide you as they talk about the charm of Matsunoyama in winter and the traditional winter lifestyle.

Directions
From the Kanetsu Expressway "Shiozawa Ishiuchi IC", via R353 (about 50 minutes)
・Take the Joetsu Shinkansen bullet train to Echigo-Yuzawa Station, then take the ・Hokuhoku Line to Matsudai Station. Approximately 15 minutes by cab.
※Taxis are recommended during periods of snow accumulation. From spring to fall, there is also a route from Matsudai Station to the bus stop + 20 min. walk.
