Sakura Yabusame

A festival celebrating female jockeys held under a row of cherry blossom trees

This is Japan’s only event where women inspired by traditional Japanese horseback archery gather to showcase their skills in competitive yabusame. In a breathtaking display of speed and precision, riders gallop down a course of approximately 200 meters in just over ten seconds, demonstrating the dynamic art of mounted archery.

Set beneath rows of blooming cherry trees, female riders dressed in elegant traditional attire command their horses while skillfully drawing their bows—an unforgettable sight. Don’t miss the rare opportunity to witness refined Japanese equestrian archery performed on native Japanese horses, a true highlight of this event.
