Roadside Station Gojome is famous for its traditional Gojome Morning Market with a history dating back more than 500 years. It is a rest stop full of delicious food and events.

The Gojome Morning Market is held every month on days ending with a 2, 5, 7, or 0. In addition to the morning market, there are a number of other seasonal events to enjoy, such as the Sansai Festival (mid-May), the Mushroom Festival (mid-October), and the Hot Pot Festival (mid-February).

Damako nabe is a specialty of this town. It contains a soy sauce-flavoured chicken broth, tamako (a local Akita dish of ground rice balls), chicken, and vegetables such as green onions. You can enjoy local cuisine at the restaurant Damako-an, so be sure to stop by and try it.
