Akita Furusatomura
In this village of lush greenery, with an area four times the size of Tokyo Dome, you can fully enjoy nature at your own pace by appreciating outdoor sculptures or eating a bento box lunch on a grassy field. Rainy days are no problem, as all facilities are connected by corridors.
The numerous attractions here include: the SPACIA Space Exploration Hall, which houses Tohoku’s largest planetarium; Wonder Castle, which features trick art and tons of playground fun for kids; Industrial Arts Exhibition Hall, which introduces craftwork from Akita; the Akita Museum of Modern Art, and more. Feel free to drop in at the Handicraft Studio to try your hand at making something unique. Many fun-filled events are held throughout the year.
A rich variety of over 10 thousand Akita souvenirs are also available. Here, you can shop for Akita's famous Inaniwa udon, Yokote yakisoba, Iburi-gakko, and a full lineup of local Akita sake.
You can enjoy local cuisine at the Furusato Dining Hall, which has Sato Yosuke, an Inaniwa udon specialty shop established 150 years ago, and Kuu, which offers a delicious meal of chicken and egg rice bowl made with Hinai Jidori (a native breed of chicken). For a quick snack, there is also Idehaya's Yokote yakisoba that shined at the Shintenno competition, the Jumonji ramen of Rinsendo, the Hinai Jirodi ramen of Hinai Dream, and Kurikoma Foods' silky soft ice cream.
