Aomori Tourist Information Center, ASPAM

Packed with Aomori souvenirs! A little-known spot that also has a great view from its observation deck

Aomori Tourist Information Center, ASPAM is characterized by being a building with an equilateral triangle in the shape of the ""A"" of ""Aomori."" It is located on the seaside and looks beautiful when it is lit up at night.

You may enter this building because you are attracted by the lovely aroma of the freshly baked apple pies. If you do, you will find plenty of tasty-looking souvenirs of Aomori on the first floor! There is an extensive range of local noted products and specialties - from local sake to sweets. Fresh apples are also sold in heaps depending on the season. You can enjoy live performances of Tsugaru shamisen for free every day on the Fore-Stage. (These performance are held twice a day. However, they may be cancelled when other events are being held.)

The second floor is an experience zone. There is a theater where you can see the Nebuta Festival on a 360-degree panoramic 3D digital video with full immersion. There is also an area with demonstrations on the production of Tsugaru koginsashi. This is a traditional quilting craft that conveys the delicateness and strength of women in the northern region.

There is an observation deck on the 13th floor. You can look out the streets of Aomori, the port and the Hakkoda Mountains in 360 degrees from 51 meters above the ground. You may even be able to see Hokkaido if the weather is good!
