Tanesato Castle in Ajigasawa Town was built by Mitsunobu Oura, who moved to and settled in Tanesato from southern Shimokuji. Five generations after Mitsunobu, Tamenobu achieved the integration of Tsugaru and became the first lord of Tsugaru domain. Therefore, this site is the birthplace where the foundation of Tsugaru Clan was established. 

In the ruins of the castle is a bronze statue of Mitsunobu; a mausoleum; and the Mitsunobu Castle Museum (Mitsunobu-ko no Yakata), which exhibits various relics related to the Tsugaru family. In the front garden, peonies, the emblem of the Tsugaru family, are in full bloom in May.

 In the Mitsunobu Castle Museum, the castle stamp of Tanesato Castle is available for purchase. These stamps are part of the Nanbu Castle Tour, in which seven castles and fortresses related to the Nanbu clan sell stamps designed by each castle. 

Each stamp has the name of the castle written in Japanese with the family emblem of the lord of the castle stamped on it. Each stamp costs 300 yen.
