Akiu Great Falls
An incredible, dynamic waterfall
[National Designated Place of Scenic Beauty] 6 meters wide and with a 55-meter drop, this waterfall has been selected as one of the 100 best waterfalls in Japan. Walk up to the basin to feel the dynamic flow of the waterfall up close. The view is even more spectacular in early summer, with its lush greenery, and in autumn, when the autumn foliage is beautiful.

- Miyagi Kotsu: JR Sendai Station West Exit Bus Pool, Bus Stop No. 8, get on the bus bound for Akiu Otaki (Akiu Great Falls) and get off at Akiu Otaki bus stop (only on Saturdays & holidays)
City Bus: JR Ayashi Station, No. 2 stop, No. 85 bus bound for Nojirimachi-Kita or No. 87 bus bound for Futakuchi, and get off at Akiu Otaki bus stop - Car Park
- From the large parking lot, it is approximately 5- to 10 minutes to the waterfall viewing platform and 20 to 30 minutes to the waterfall basin (on foot).
